A cursory look at everything currently being said about Google's impending Android 4.4.3 update

Android 4.4.3 KitKat was rumoured to have landed on April 14 2014. We heard the Nexus 5 was the first to begin receiving the update but for only those with the US network Sprint variant. It turns out there was a problem though and the update didn’t roll out after all. But it’s close.
The update was meant to bring with it the ability to use Sprint’s LTE network on bands 26 and 41. We think it’ll still be coming to this device early on but we don’t currently have a predicted release date.
Apart from that, Android 4.4.3 was meant to bring about more bug fixes. There was no major feature or UI changes involved, and Sprint Nexus 5 owners were told they’d find the version KTU48F under their system updates.
It was a confusing situation as Sprint added the details to its website, but there was no news on the Google list of Nexus devices.
It turns out it was all down to a typo on the Sprint website. The website got the build number wrong and someone picked up on the details assuming it was Android 4.4.3 launching.  It has now been fixed on the network’s support forums.
Additionally, XDA users have been in contact with Google support staff and have been told that Sprint's original information was incorrect. Here's a chatlog:
We know for sure it's still coming though, a Sprint representative has put a message on theCommunity forums saying “Due to an issue with the software, this update has been put on hold. Will update this post as soon as the rollout resumes.”
So we don’t know exactly when it’ll arrive but he also revealed it would be rolled out in batches. The Sprint representative also made no comment on the update coming to other devices, this suggests it really is only the Nexus 5 which will be receiving the new update in the near future.
We were hoping this meant Android 4.4.3 was coming to a bunch of devices very soon. That doesn’t seem the be the case though. We’d love to see the new update hit Google Play Edition and unlocked Nexus devices first before beginning to trickle down to other devices.
Android 4.4.3 is rumoured to fix problems with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. There are also a few problems with data connections, camera bugs, missed calls and random reboots which should be fixed with this new update.

Bringing The Colours Back?

We originally thought the Android 4.4.3 update would only bring about bug fixes and improvements in different departments. Now from leaked screenshots it looks like the Nexus 5 at least will be receiving a new Dialer app design. One with a brand spanking new colour scheme, as you can now see below.
The screens were posted on the XDA Developers forum which is well known for being correct about these kinds of things. Android Police believes the Nexus 5 handset in the images actually belongs to a member ofstaff at Google considering the sources names.
The screenshot is also put alongside the device's "About Phone" information, showing that the handset is indeed running Android 4.4.3. There’s no confirmation it’ll come on any other handsets apart from the Nexus 5 but we hope it does, it looks good so far.
“All the contacts now look like Gmail thumbnails,” reports Android & Me, “with photos of the person if available, or a colored card with a letter if not. The blue bar at the bottom just adds a bit of colored flare to the previously white app.”
Previously, Android Police published a list of the bug fixes coming with the new version, but it’s important to note there may be more coming inside the update. After the jump is what we know will be fixed so far:
•Frequent data connection dropout fix
•mm-qcamera-daemon crash and optimization fixes
•Camera focus in regular and HDR modes fixes
•Power Manager display wakelock fix
•Multiple Bluetooth fixes
•Fix for a random reboot
•App shortcuts sometimes got removed from launcher after update
•USB debugging security fix
•App shortcuts security fix
•Wi-Fi auto-connect fix
•Other camera fixes
•MMS, Email/Exchange, Calendar, People/Dialer/Contacts, DSP, IPv6, VPN fixes
•Stuck in activation screen fix
•Missed call LED fix
•Subtitle fixes
•Data usage graph fix
•Internet telephony fix
•FCC compliance fix
•Miscellaneous fixes
So there's no big change in the Android 4.4.3 KitKat update. We expect to see the big changes including a bunch of new features to come with Android 4.5. For more details on what we know about Android 4.5, including a look at the brand new UI design, head down to the bottom of this article or here.

Motorola Moto X+1 Screenshot Shows Off Android 4.4.3

We’ve previously seen quite a few details on the Moto X+1, the successor to the Moto X. There’s now been a leaked screenshot of the benchmarks from the handset which reveals some tasty Android 4.4.3 KitKat details.
There’s no confirmation from Google or Motorola that the handset will come with 4.4.3 as standard but it’s a good sign. It could just be that the software is featured on the handset whilst the company works on it.
We hope the update to Android 4.4 KitKat comes with the handset though to fix some of those bugs we’ve seen on other devices with 4.4.2. The screenshot is just below and here’s all the details on the rumoured Moto X+1.
