Windows Phone 8.1 to get File Manager

JOE Belfiore, the corporate vice president and manager for Windows Phone, held a Reddit AMA where he answered various question about the future of the platform. Among the answered questions was whether Windows Phone would be getting a File Manager, a highly-requested feature the community has been asking about for years, and Belfiore confirmed that yes, an app would be in the Windows Phone Store by the end of the month.

As you can see below, the provided screenshots show users will be able to navigate the device’s built-in storage as well as SD cards. The app will also let you create new folders, move files from one folder to another, and search within folders.
Belfiore got very excited when the question was asked, as he was saying to confirm the news on Reddit.
"We are doing a File Manager for WP8.1! I know a LOT of you are looking for this (thanks for the tweets, I’ve read them all). In fact, I’ve been running a build of it on two of my phones for the last week or so and it’s getting to pretty good shape."
Belfiore also confirmed his team is talking to Snapchat to get an app on Windows Phone. In response to the lack of Google apps, he explained that Microsoft would love to see them on the platform, but it’s not up to Redmond.
"We think we’ve developed an awesome platform with Windows Phone, and definitely look forward to welcoming Google’s apps on it. We have these apps high on our “want list” so it’s something we’ve invested in (ahem, YouTube) and are absolutely willing to continue investing in.

Unfortunately, the apps are Google’s and I can’t say when they will act. Only our friends in Mountain View know timing. You should ping them! (often!)"
New apps aside, he also talked about existing apps. In particular, he promised major updates were coming to both Skype and Facebook, both of which Microsoft develops for Windows Phone.
In response to a question about Cortana coming to Windows 8, Belfiore hinted that it’s certainly a possibility: “Nothing specific to announce, but Cortana herself is always telling us she’s a fan of PCs herself.”

Speaking of Cortana, Belfiore also announced a new feedback site available at cortana.uservoice.com. He’s asking users to tell the company “what you’d like us to teach Cortana in the future.”

It’s great to see an AMA from Microsoft that actually includes some news tidbits.

Logitech Case+ with +Drive add-on

As clever as smartphone cases can get, their features are usually set in stone; if you decide you need a battery pack after you bought a wallet case, you might be stuck. Logitech hopes to eliminate that accessory anxiety with its new Case+ add-on for the iPhone 5 and 5s, built in part by the TT Design Labs crew it acquired last year. The modular design starts with a basic protector, but lets you attach components depending on what you need. A +Drive piece gives you a magnetic car mount, while +Energy more than doubles your battery life; +Wallet offers space for your credit cards, and +Tilt (based on TT's TidyTilt) provides both a kickstand as well as a magnetic mount for your fridge.
Do be prepared to pay for the convenience, though. Logitech currently plans to ship Case+ in the US this month as a $200 bundle that includes everything. Given that a 16GB iPhone 5s typically costs the same amount on contract, that's an expensive proposition -- it'll only make sense if you crave flexibility. We've reached out to Logitech to see if it will let you buy components one at a time like you can elsewhere, but we wouldn't count on it. If your needs aren't quite so varied, you may want to pick up a more focused (and likely cheaper) case instead.

Top 5 Trade Show Booth Giveaway Mistakes To Learn From - win-giveaways.com

When it comes to creating great trade show displays, it's easy to make mistakes. There is so much to learn, and on top of that, you need to keep your finger on the pulse of the market or risk becoming irrelevant. With so much to remember, it's easy to let some of the basics fall through the cracks. Whether you're new to the field or a career designer trying to brush up for a new year, these five common mistakes made when selecting giveaways for your trade show exhibit will help remind you of what's important when your company runs a promotion.
Mistake #1: Confusing Low Cost With Great Value
Just because an item has a very low cost doesn't mean it's a good value. If you've visited conventions before, you've almost certainly run across that one trade show exhibit that gives away pens that won't work. They might hurt your hand, they might break, they might leak, or they might just never write at all, but they're not good quality. In all likelihood, the person who decided to buy them thought the company was getting a great deal, but did that item strengthen the company's brand? Remember that every item you give away will reflect back on your company. Only pick things that you know are going to leave a positive impression of your trade show booth.
Mistake #2: Failing To Quickly Sort Qualified Leads From The Merely Curious
Giving away anything is a great way to draw traffic to your trade show displays. The problem is, if you can't sort through that traffic once you've got it, you're going to end up giving away products and time to leads that won't pan out. People are naturally attracted to anything that's free; if you just give out free stuff left and right, you're not going to see good results. Instead, train your trade show booth staff to quickly and effectively learn to qualify leads. They should be able to tell virtually at a glance whether someone is likely to buy or is just visiting trade show displays for free merchandise.
Mistake #3: Giving Something For Absolutely Nothing
Don't make your visitors pay money for your giveaways, but make them give you something in return: their contact information. When they take something from you, whether it's a pen or a coffee mug, you want to make sure that you can contact them about it later. Get their business card, or have them fill out a contact sheet, right there at the trade show exhibit. If you let them walk away without getting their details, you won't be able to follow up and drive the sale home.
Mistake #4: Forgetting To Distinguish Your Loyal Customers
Whenever an existing customer visits your trade show booth, you should have something special to give them that shows how much you appreciate their business. Whatever you give them should always be nicer than what you're giving away to new prospects. You want them to understand how much you appreciate their business. Never forget that while new leads will propel your business, your old and loyal clients are your foundation.
Mistake #5: Losing Track Of Your Goal
The most important thing to remember when you pick out and give away any kind of gift at a trade show exhibit is what the gift is meant to do. It's something that keeps your company name in front of the eyes of visitors, reminding them of who you are and what you offer. That goal should dictate what kind of thing you choose to give, and what quality you choose as well. Forget that, and you could see greatly diminished profits no matter how well you avoid these other four mistakes.

Samsung Galaxy S5 vs Galaxy S3 vs Galaxy S4 - Cameras

In the past two weeks, we’ve seen a number of developments in regard to the Samsung Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat update and the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update. Here, we take a look at theseAndroid 4.4 KitKat details and offer an updated look at the future for Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 owners.
Back in January, Samsung pushed out its first Android 4.4 KitKat update. The company’s first Galaxy Android 4.4 KitKat update landed for the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, a surprise given that the company historically pushed Galaxy S Android updates first.
In February, Samsung started pushing out the Samsung Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 KitKat update, its second Android 4.4 KitKat upgrade and one that delivered the same features that arrived on board the Galaxy Note 3′s update a month before. And while these two updates were first in line, they certainly weren’t going to be the only Android 4.4 KitKat updates that Samsung pushed out.
Since January, we’ve seen several other Samsung Galaxy Android 4.4 updates start pushing including an Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Samsung Galaxy Note 2. And, at some point in the near future, we expect to see the Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update start pushing out to select users.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates are particularly important. These are two former flagships that are still in the hands of millions of people and Android 4.4 could represent their last major upgrade. So, it’s no surprise that Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 owners have been searching for details and for someone to help set expectations.
We want to do exactly that and here, we not only take a look at all of the recent Galaxy Note 2 and Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update details but we also take a look at what we expect from both the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2 Android 4.4 KitKat updates.
The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update has been a flashpoint thanks to conflicting information. While some believe that the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update could be limited in scope, others believe that Samsung will roll out the update across Galaxy S3 variants including the international version of the company’s aging flagship.
The situation still isn’t clear but we have a feeling that the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat roll out could commence any day now, at least inside the United States. Yesterday, we discovered the Sprint Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update hiding in a User Agent Profile string on Sprint’s website. This is usually a sign that an update is close.
We also discovered that Samsung put the kernel source inside its OpenSource site for developers, another sign that a roll out is close. Typically, when an update appears there, it will roll out within 48 hours. In other words, we could see the Sprint Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out this week.
It’s not surprising to see Sprint making moves. The carrier has been at the front of the line for just about every major Android update in the past year. It was first to the HTC One Android 4.4 update, first to the Galaxy S4 Android 4.4 and Android 4.3 updates and among the first to the Galaxy Note 3 Android 4.4 update. It’s also the only carrier in the United States that’s announced Android 4.4 for the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.
We would not be surprised if Sprint kicks off the Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update roll out and if it does so sometime this week. Sprint Galaxy S3 owners should keep an eye out.
